The Passive Voice

What happens when masculine men are photographed in vulnerable poses? What issues and concerns (if any) do they confront? The fear of being penetrated, be it physically or metaphorically drives how many men carry themselves. These images challenge the traditional male/macho posture. Bending over, kneeling, cowering, protecting his head, hunched shoulders - none of these denote strength, virility or power. Is it a fundamentally strong act to allow oneself to be captured in a state of vulnerability, or is it the fulfilment of a wish to be overpowered and possessed?
